    ~ #11-12:
2 various-use utility Pins, the large has gold plate remnants & the other is a silver metal. *Back in those days, clothing & accessories were not made with buttons or fasteners so collars, shirt cuffs, under garments, and the like required a variety of pins and clips to hold them in place.
    ~ Essex Crystal:
The 1860 process began with Quartz Rock Crystal (usually mined in Brazil or Madagascar) which was cut
with diamond saws, ground to the perfect cabochon,
and then tediously hand polished to perfection. Next, the artisan utilized up to 250 scribing tools to carefully carve the underside of the cabochon flat bottom (known as reverse intaglio). After this, the image was painted with fine brushes using an oil and diamond dust mixture. The final step was to seal with a backing and on the early crystals, this was composed of gold foil or Mother of Pearl.
~ All are in Good to Excellent
    Antique Condition
with varying degrees of expected wear considering their 100-year-old+ age. Some pin stems are not as taut as they once were, but pins may still be worn securely by threading through material a few times (instead of once). Please view all photos to judge for yourself. The Lot is packed up so I may not be able to answer questions about specific pieces.
