Girl's Embroidered Vest from Marken, Holland
A lovely girl's embroidered vest from Marken in Holland. Made of heavy fulled black wool, lined in homespun linen, with red wool peplum. Embellished with beautiful embroidery, straight stitching, and woven tape braid. One source says whalebone is inserted as stiffener between the vertical stitchings in back. Closes in front with string lacing tie; there are eight holes for lacing on each side, but it came to me as shown, with a shoestring tie using only five of the holes.
Measurements with front laced closed:
Width under arms: 15" across
Width at waist: 12" across
Length: 18" from neck to bottom hem
In excellent condition, no stains or tears!
